“The first thing that catches your eye is the large, dark sticker that covers a large part of the blue PCB. The sticker is designed to improve heat dissipation and thus ensure stable operation. Since the G4 PLUS is a single-sided M.2 SSD, there are no components on the back. There is only a large white sticker printed with the type designation, serial number, supply voltage, capacity, and UK and EU contacts, among other information. Beneath the sticker, on the right side, you will find the PHISON PS5031-E31 PCIe 5.0 controller and, to the left of it, the two BiCS flash drives. As already mentioned, the EXCERIA G4 PLUS does not have an additional DRAM cache, but the smaller manufacturing process for the PHISON controller should have reduced power consumption. The PHISON PS5031-E31 is a slightly slower PCIe 5.0 X4 variant compared to the E26 high-end model.

Conclusion
The KIOXIA EXCERIA PLUS G4 offers solid read and write performance, sufficient for all everyday PC activities. While the built-in PHISON controller lacks an additional DRAM cache, it still delivers impressive write performance and speed. Just like the write performance, operating temperatures are also pleasantly cool, so a motherboard cooler is more than sufficient to keep the SSD cool. In our price comparison, the KIOXIA EXCERIA PLUS G4 is listed for just under €180. We recommend it for its performance.
Pros:
+ Very high read and write speeds
+ Low operating temperatures
+ PCIe 5.0 interface”- hardwareinside.de
